Anyone have coordinates for quiet solitude and good anchorage in the Georgian Bay?

We are headed north for our first trip to Georgian Bay this summer-and there may be more seekers and responders if you share in this forum. David Lady Lillie

North Channel in July

I'll be making my 23rd trip to the blue waters of Georgian Bay and the North Channel of Lake Huron this summer. We plan to spend the month of July making the circuit from Sandusky up to Tobermorey, to Detour, Mackinac Island, and back. Before I give suggestions, I need to know how much time you have for your trip so I can figure out which coves/ports to recommend. There are hundreds to choose and it's all a function of how much time you can spend in the area. Please don't tell the people out east or west that this is the best cruising area in the United States during the summer.

Brings back memories

I grew up in Southern Ontario, did a fair amount of vacationing in the Georgian Bay area, from the tip of the Bruce Trail to the beaches of Collingwood, canoe tripping the Thirty Thousand Islands (actually 90,000 as I heard an RCAF aerial survey apparently determined). Never sailed the Bay, always wanted to. There must be a gazillion (scientific term) places to stay! Good luck! I'm envious.

Anchorages

Try Frying Pan Bay on the north shore of Beausoleil Is., Indian Harbour on the small craft route to Parry Sound, and Regatta Bay on Franklin Is. at the entrance to the Sound. These are all on the SE side of the bay, where after a week you'll have found a dozen of your own.
