I am looking for suggestions in regards to installing an anchor wench on Catalina 30. The deck space between the forward hatch and fore peak does not lend itself to a deck mounting. My boat is a 1985. Need help

I am just in the process of rebuilding vertical windlass to install just behind the anchor hatch

My anchor wench and I have been married 30 years come this September. Still working on a deck mounting though :)

My anchor "wench" is my wife, but if I had to install a winch or windlass I would refer to an installation provided in the Mainsheet Magazine a few years back. My neighbor did a jam up installation of one on his 30. He did install a metal support plate for the lower unit in the anchor locker for starters. These 30's could certainly use one!

I've also been married to my anchor wench for 15 years! LOL!
Too bad she goes on strike & then I'm left to haul the dag um anchor up!
But really on a boat the size of a C 30 a windless anchor "winch" is rarely seen,
& is really unnecessary. The average anchor weight for a 30 footer coastal cruiser is 20 pounds & the anchor chain is usually only about 10 feet with another 100 feet or so of rope rode. Even with my bad back I can still haul her up. You use the engine to break the anchor free & then haul up slowly by hand. Thanks for the laugh!

I'll bet you wished you had used spell check before that posting! I wish I had an anchor wench. I'm always on the foredeck with the hook! My wench of 47 years is at the helm.
