Hunter 36 Punta Gorda
I am in the process of adding a anchor wash down system to my 2007 36. Run plastic hose from head intake to anchor locker,already done. Install pump same location as the the thru hull's,short run to breaker panel. Might add a run to stern also down the road. What type fittings to use in the anchor locker to attach hose. Any other suggestion's,any pro and con. Nick

Nick! Oh man!!!! I just drove all the way across

town to my local West Marine and found the valve. Now you tell me that you beat me to it! Drat!:) True though, I'm typing at the store. You need Perko #D504DP0CHR. Hope I read that right. My glasses are getting tired. Oh, yes, the hose should always be in place. Not a silly question,,,well, maybe a little. ;)

Never have to wash down...

... the anchor. After weighing anchor I pull it up to just below water level and leave it there while moving forward for a while. The boats movement through the water cleans the anchor of mud and sand. After a few minutes the anchor is clean and I can finish hoisting to the anchor roller.

actually now that you mention it

might not be a bad idea after all. I read your post but didn't think about using lake water for wash-down. I should read more carefully rather than poking fun. I'm always pulling up a muddy chain and anchor that doesn't come off with a simple dowsing in the lake and I don't like to dangle the anchor in case it bangs the bow. I have a through-hull for the macerator that is not being used, nor will be used as the hose from the holdong tank to the macerator is now gone and the tank plugged. What size hose did you use and what pump.

Mud MUD and more MUD

Fred I found it at a local marine supply cheaper than WM ,over $25 versus $17 at local guy. I wish I had a photo of how much mud came up with my 40 ft of chain and 35 lb delta when anchored this past summer at West Neck harbor in Shelter Island. There was so much mud on the chain I could have made a mud hut for a two family house,I just could not get it off. When we got back to our marina it took me about a good hour letting it all out and rinse the chain off while retrieving it and than another yard of mud all over the windless and locker. I have used the bucket system but I vote for the wash down system. Nick
