That was nice of you to fill out profile. It sure makes answering questions easier. I figured you had a fairly large boat, but sometimes assumptions on here are not always good to make.I think you can contact Phil Herring on info@SailboatOwners.com. He is always a great help. He more or less runs this site. His avitar is a battle ship. I always have problems with uploading any changes. He can tell you exactly what to do.Anyway, everyone has their own way of doing things. I used to use a thimble on an eye splice. Then i used a shackle to connect the eye splice on my rope to my chain and another shackle from my chain to my anchor. This gave me a problem at the rope to chain joint with the shackle in the way. Now i use a 'chain splice' on my rope to make the rope to chain connection and a high quality shackle from my chain to my anchor. My is about 21,000 lbs displacementIt wasnt until i started selling rope did I realize that the rope was the strongest part of the rode system. Then it became apparent how undersized/understrength my shackles were, and how much $$$ a quality shackle really cost. On a boat your size, my advice would be to not cut any corners as far as $$$ is concerned.. Tony B
