Bracket on pulpit

check the boat catalogs for a simple two-piece bracket that goes on the front or side of the bow pulpit. You can see them all over the place on boats in your marina. Just be sure to keep the line attached and ready for quick deployment if you need to anchor quickly.

Anchor bag

I think that in the most recent edition of Good Old Boat magazine, there was an article about a similar situation regarding not having anywhere to stow the anchor line. The author of the article had a "canvas" bag made that hung off the pulpit and served the need. Since reading the article, I have started keeping my rode in a canvas bag on the pulpit. It works OK, but it is a temporary measure until I can get something more permanent built.

Anchor Storaqe Ideas

I am also thinking of storing the anchor on the bow pulpit and was wondering if anyone has installed a deck pipe into the "V" compartment just ahead of the v-berth to run the anchor line through, for storage in the "V" compartment? And if so how well did it work for you?

Anchor storage

My last boat was a C22 and found the same delima of where to store the anchor. I came up with a solution that worked real well for me. I used 4" PVC pipe and cut off about a foot of it and attached it to the outside of the bow pulpit. for the line I boutht a small bag and coiled it in the bag. I put a grommet in the bottom of the bag and led the line through the hole and attached it to the bow eye just so I couldn't loose it. To deploy it all you did was pull it out of the pipe and toss it over. It worked great for me. If you want I think I have pictures showing it. Send me your e-mail address and I'll send you what I have.

Ramblin' Rod

$3 Anchor Holder

This is described in "The Complete Sailor - Learning The Art Of Sailing" by David Seidman 3/16" line holding 2 SS thimbles. We also hang the coiled rode off the pulpit in one of those plastic straps that only unsnap one way. We never take it off except for use. (We also have SS backing plates on our bow pulpit.)

Re/Pipe into Bow

Bob J., I'd be concerned about water coming in with the rode with no place to go in the C22. Could lead to a smelly mess in the cabin. And I agree the rode-in-a-bag attached to the pulpit method works well. Dick
