Hey, sorry for all the posts. I'm new to the Mac gang. Anyway. My newest toy a 26S did not come with an anchor, or locker. I didn't really notice at first... Anyway. What size anchor is recommended for a muddy silt bottom, chain, rode ??? Oh - lake type environment but a big lake - big winds possible. Does the Mac have an anchor locker? was it an option? there is a "box" in the cabin top at the bow, but I think it's full of foam chunks. MacGregor's built in floatation. Does everyone keep their anchor in a bucket in the aft locker? Or does everyone just beach the boat and tie up? Curious.

17 lb Bulwaga and 10 feet of chain 200 rode
We went to Bimini and do allot of sailing on the TN river. We had several bad experiences with a 17 lb danforth and 15 lb fisherman's anchor in both locations. One of the guys (Chip Hindes) we went to Bimini with had a Bulwaga. We rafted 6 macs up on his anchor in Key Largo in about 12 kts of wind and it didn't budge. I had a canvas maker make me a bag that hangs on the bow rail. I store the rode and chain in that. Next year I'm going to buy a bow roller for our Bruce anchor and mount it on our 26S.
