I'm looking at making an anchor sail using the Sailrite kit. Up to what wind speed do you keep yours up?
Ruth made one...

... from a Sailrite kit for our Mac and we usually take it down in winds over 25 mph. Might not need to, but do. It has slowed the swing and made it less, but not entirely stopped it. I usually put it up too keep busy and we can live well without it as we got so use to sailing all around on anchor. We are hardly ever near anyone else.

I posted two videos of it being used in the 10,000 Islands ...

...and there is more about it here.....

The Endeavour doesn't seem to swing that much, so I doubt we will make one for it, but I do want to try the bridle described above, thanks Rich,

Hey, I thought that anchor sail looked familiar - we have the same one. Made, if I'm not mistaken, by Kent Sails in Michigan.

In fact I wrote an article featuring that anchor sail for Good Old Boat Magazine a few year ago.

As for wind speed, that was never an issue, and we kept it up in all conditions. It worked great, and I would never be without one. And I agree that it was a great way to meet people, as they were always rowing over at the anchorage to ask about it.
Steve,
I read that article and I bought this sail on Ebay shortly after and it works so well for my aft cabin setup staying out of the way for the lots of activity that goes on at the stern (BarBQ,swimming, dink)

Quick question, with the anchor snubber, how does it work if you cannot connect it to chain? I only have 30ft of chain, rest is rode. How could I attach a snubber line to rode, is there a knot or something for that?

Hey Luken7
If you have a rode you don't need a snubber. The rode is (should be) a stretchy nylon which absorbs the shocks.

A friend of mine has resolved the problem with a stern anchor, but not deployed as you might guess. 1:1 scope, just kissing the bottom. This creates just enough drag the the dancing stops
