Has anybody installed a bow anchor roller on an O'Day 25? My 1978 model does not have the bow anchor locker, and I don't like having to store it in the cockpit locker. Any ideas?

Anchor storage

Hi Steve - If you have a danforth type anchor you can purchase an inexpensive holder that mounts to your bow pulpit. If you have a plow type anchor, there are many rollers available that should work (West Marine). The challenge is where to stow the anchor chain and rode, as well as how to secure the bitter end. You could use a rubber bucket of some type and fasten it to the bow pulpit but that would take up valuable deck space. Alternatively, you could fabricate a low profile box of some type and through bolt it through the deck (paint it white so it's not so obtrusive). I'll keep thinking... Trevor

and into a locker in the forepeake. Build a waterproof tray in the bottom of the locker and, from it, run a drian overboard.

Let me clarify my question

I have a rode locker with a hawse pipe, that is not my problem. I want a place to store the anchor itself. I've seen the pulpit mounts for Danforths, but I thought a bow roller would look better and be more functional. I've heard of other O'Day 25s having bow rollers and wanted to either see a picture, or hear from someone with a bow roller on their O'Day 25. Later 25s (I've seen a 1983) had an actual anchor locker in the deck. That's neat, but I'm not cutting up my deck.

My 25 Has One

My O'Day 25 (1976 model) has one. I don't have a picture handy, but I'll try to describe it. It's a standard type bow roller, that sits slightly off-center to the port side (because the chainplate for the forestay is in the way). However, I don't keep the anchor on the roller. I have a Danforth type anchor, and I bought brackets for it to hang it from the bow.
