Anchor Roller mod

I'm modifying my anchor roller in order to accommodate my Manson Supreme anchor. When I removed the bolts from the existing roller, I found this material that came up with the bolts. I'm not sure if this is the original silicone or Butyl tape? Anyone recognize it or know what was used from the factory?

I don't think that is butyl tape. The tape is usually reinforced with some fiberglass cloth. That looks like silicone in the pic but I'm not sure. Is it tacky like tar or rubbery in consistency?

Either way, butyl tape would be a good way to bed it when you put it back together.

I've never seen butyl tape reinforced with fiberglass cloth. Where have you seen that product?

"Usually" may have been too definitive. I have two rolls that I just purchased from MainSail. Your post made me go and look at them and you are correct, they do not have a backing cloth... and I have the remnants of a small roll that I got at Advance Auto about two years ago.. that one does have some sort of fibers in it... I assume it is fiberglass cloth. Until I got these two rolls from MainSail, I have always got mine at Advanced Auto... but they don't carry it anymore.

I stand corrected.
