I have to tie the rope rode to the chain ring for aboutone weeks worth of anchoring until I can get the rope spliced any suggestions as to knot to use

One of my favorite knots. I use it to secure dock lines to posts, alternating with a Lighterman's Hitch, depending on the post/bollard, and what I feel like doing at the moment. :D

But for anchor service with 3-strand, I'll splice it on. Takes a few minutes, and doesn't get much more secure that that. Tapering, and even whipping the splice, makes it neater, but a good old-fashioned anchor splice is quick and secure.

I don't know if he's got 3 strand or braided, but, yep, 3 strand's usually a snap to splice.

Use an anchor hitch and seize the tail to the standing part.

If I had the opportunity and it would work in the situation I would get a thimble to splice around and connect with a chain shackle.

I'd vote with Ross on this one. And thimbles just means a shackle, one more link, plus you must have a larger deck pipe, thus a bigger hole for water to enter.
