Today while cleaning out and organizing my anchor locker, I noticed a significant crack in the bottom of liner. Water has to be getting in there. Water can easily enter thru the hole in the cover and non-watertight cover edges. I checked inside the bow of the boat and didn't see any obvious signs of leakage, which I find hard to believe. I do find some water in the bilge after a heavy rain. Could the water make it way to the bottom of the boat from the locker? The drain in the locker was not clogged. What is the best way to fix the crack? sealant, resin, fiberglass, or some sort of rubber or vinyl liner that I could cement to the locker bottom and sides? Thanks Jim

Fiberglass

Jim, I had the exact problem as you on my 22. While some sealants may work like 3M 4200 or 5200 the crack could get bigger over time. Because this is an anchor locker you can sand and re-glass the area without worrying too much about appearance. I took a 4 1/2" grinder fitted with a sanding pad (50 grit) for quick removal of the old glass. I sanded most of the locker area, bottom and up the sides. Make sure the wood underneath is dry or give it time to dry out. I used 24 oz cloth with a standard polyester resin. After that set up I hit the new glass lightly with the sander and applied a coat of gelcoat on top of the new glass. Again, not worrying too much about appearance. It looks good , but, more importantly is tough and watertight. All the materials can be purchased at Boat US or West Marine. Hope this helps. Todd , "Breakin' Wind"

Thanks, will do it this week

Thanks for input. Like you said, it doesn't have to look pretty. Weather is great for fiberglassing too. Jim
