Anchor locker leaks

Jay, have you decided how you're going to tackle the issue? I've now discovered what seems to be significant rot and leakage from my locker. I posted current exterior shots from my locker in Ralph's thread which show what might have been a previous repair attempt. Looking at your photos it looks like yours might also have had a previous attempt at least from the interior. In your 2nd and 3rd photos, the raw fiberglass strips at the joints look really sloppy and even placed over some kind of sealant! What? Really??!!! I haven't removed my forward v-berth wall to get a better look yet, but I can imagine I'm going to find something similar. Seems like a proper repair will require some surgery to remove the rot followed by new glass. But I still don't really understand how that wall even rots in the first place. Maybe it starts with a leak at the deck fill fitting with all the pooled water there and just eventually soaks up into the whole wall?

Well, you showed me yours, so I’ll show you mine.

Looks like similar construction to yours, but I’ve had a previous repair done with that triangular sheet of 1” plywood. There’s rot all over, but most significantly on the upper plate. Bummer.

You might try treating the anchor locker as if it were a fuel tank by plugging the drain and pressurizing the locker with a shop-vac then using soap bubbles to see if you could find the leak as that could be faster than waiting for water to worm its way in.
