I have a leak in the anchor locker. there are 6 total screws and nuts on the triangular plate in the anchor locker w. nuts on either side of the the bottom on the V-berth. The problem is I can only see the 3 nuts on the starboard side from the berth. I cannot see the other 3 on the port side because the boat is not exactly square. I want to re-bed the plate myself but how can I remove the nuts from the screws if I cant even see them. The clearing on the starboard side is about 1 1/2" while the clearing on the port is about 1" or less. I cant even see the nuts never mind fitting a tool in there to reach the nuts.
Has anyone experienced this problem and how did you resolve it.
Thank you very much in advance.

Here is a pic of what I'm saying. You can see all 6 top screws, but you can only see the 3 starboard nuts from the v-bunk.
HELP PLEASE

anchor locker

I have thought about this. The only way I thought to get to the nuts was to construct a very long bent wrench to get to them.
this Is on my radar but I have not doen it yet.

Not a bad thought, but screwing it back together would be somewhat frustrating. to get the bolt to connect w/ the nut again I mean. Like I said, I couldn't even see it. Got to look at it again and again and maybe, and I'll feel more confident about your idea.
Thanks,
Bernard

my leak was from the pastic fitting for the drain in the bottom so I replaced it the hose and the hull fitting at the same time. and fixed my leak.
also note that the stainless plate in the bow "sweats moisture" on the v berth but that is a non-fixable item.
hope that helps.

What does the plate do? Is it something that is structural? Are you sure that there are nuts on the backside? Can it be screwed in with larger screws? If I had an idea what it is for, I might actually be able to help you with your question.

Windlass

The plate is for future mounting of a windlass. When applying tourque to the top side the bolts just spin on my boat.

Sorry, I didn't know that I had other people trying to help me with this issue.
KTM500MX, where did you purchase these items you replaced? I have to give this a try.
I also tried to unscrew the bolts, but they didn't come out even though I spun them. When I went to the V-bunk, I saw the nuts on the starboard side. Since I spun them, does anybody here think I broke the seal on these bolts?
Guest, Thank you. I didn't know that this plate was for a windlass.
