I have lost overboard the metal handle/closure bolt that secures the forward anchor locker hatch of my 1985 Hunter 31'. This sliding fitting is held in place on the anchor lazerette hatch cover by two small stainless plates (still have those). The missing sliding bolt latches into a hole on the inside starboard edge of the anchor lazerette to keep the hatch cover secured. Contacted Hunter. They don't have replacements, the OM is out of business. Can anyone suggest how I can make/find a replacement? Has anyone come up with a way of positively securing the hatch cover? The sliding pin arrangement can slide back when seas really get going?

HUH?

Bill: The obvious question is, "How the heck did you loose the thing?" OK, it's gone...blame it on the dog. The only thing I could suggest is to find a local Stainless Steel fabrication/ welding shop and give them detailed instructions. Better yet, take the locker cover off and take it to them. Shouldn't cost too much. I have a local welder here in Norfolk that is pretty reasonable so you should have one up your way. Good luck! Smooth sailing. Tim L. (S/V "TIDE")

Don' t really know

... how it came out. I slid the pin back opened the hatch to its verticle position against the pulpit and kerplunk it went overbaord. My guess is one of the welds broke allowing it to slip out. The retainer plates are still in place! I'll look for a local welder that can do SS

I would suggest going to a local machine shop. They seem to be more equiped to make custom parts with the ability to make them look good. Jerry
