Year ago, I used to do up my anchor line up every time I finished using it, to make everything look ship-shape, but when I went to drop the anchor, the line always got tangled. Then I said, "the heck with this, I'm just going to leave the anchor line on the deck in a pile so that when I want to drop my hook, it'll all pay out with no tangles and knots," but the line still looked terible all piled up on the deck, and occasionally when I wanted to move the anchor line to the cockpit, it was a hassle to carry. So I took an old crate, cut it down, splice in some 1/2 inch Nylon rope handles, and added a couple of 1/2 inch Teak moldings to the bottom of the crate with some non-skid rubber glued to the bottom, and it works like a champ. It doesn't interfere with my Gennie and I've got it tied to my bow pulpit, so it doesn't fall off the deck. I used an old crate, but I think that a wooden box could have been built for this purpose. I took the bitter end of my anchor line and ran it through one of the holes in the crate and tied it to the pulpit, just in case. This concludes my projects for now. Although, I've been thinking of making some kind of a doggy boarding ladder out of two fender boards, and a large boat fender, to attach to my stern boarding ladder, so that Penelope can climb on board by herself.
