Does any one know where I can get a replacement anchor light for my 1988 Hunter 23. I would like the identical light that came with the boat.l

I don't beleive that these boats CAME with an anchor light?

From what I have read, the early model H23's had a steaming light but no anchor light.. while the later models switched to having an anchor light but no steaming light. Yes, it makes no sense. Anyway, the navigation lights on my '85 H23 are supplied by Perko.. the steaming light is a #1331 which is basically identical to the stern light (#1332) except it does not have the plastic side covers to restrict it's field of view. The anchor light would need to be a 360 degree type, and most likely was made by Perko as well.. check this Perko web page and see if you can match the one you have. If you do find it, let us know.. I want to add an anchor light to the top of my mast and it would be nice to use what was 'stock' from the factory (except perhaps in a LED model!).

I have an 85 Hunter 23 that came stock with the steaming light (Perko). How and where is the anchor light mounted? My mast-refinishing is not quite complete due to a surge at work, and I could easily add the anchor light. A photo would be great. I checked out the Perko website, the 0309A All-Round Light, chromed, would be the best match to what is on my boat. The 0108 Light would also look appropriate

My 86 h23 has a factory steaming light and no anchor light. I plan to put a LED anchor light on the next time my mast is down. I have a Coleman brand LED lantern I hoist at anchor at night with a down haul line on my main sheet halyard. I have been told it was seen over 2 nm away by a friend who was going to use the same cove for a overnight stay. A Dallas police boat came by one night and asked all the boats with people on deck if everyone was ok. He never mentioned my jury rigged anchor light.
While on the subject of navigation lights, I'm missing the front bi-color bow light on my H23.. since they all seem to have been supplied by Perko, I'm guessing that the correct one to use is the Perko 0200BTO.. can anyone confirm or look at the model number on the back of theirs if different?

I believe MrUnix is correct that later units came with an "All-round" (360 degree) light at the top of the mast, at least that was what was on my 1988 H23 when i bought it in 2008. I do not know if it was the original, but I think it is an AquaSignal, not Perko. Both are available at West Marine and elsewhere.
I think they did this to save money because under the ColRegs, for a boat under power less than 12 meters, an all-round can be substituted for a masthead a/k/a steaming (225 degree) light which also doubles as an Anchor light (or vice versa) though to be correct the stern light would have to be disabled in both cases. A true masthead is only required under power, and only has to be 1 meter above the side-lights (<12M rule), not at the top of the mast. The Anchor light has to be unobstructed so the top of the mast is the best place on a sailboat. However I have read comments that express concern about visibilty of the Anchor light in the real world as many speeding power boaters will not be looking 30+ feet above the horizon for an anchor light.

Yep Brad. That's it. I just took off the old broken one and I am replacing it with a new pedestal base model for my Anchor light. I am also putting on an AquaSignal masthead, the model that actually mounts to the front of the mast, about five feet up so it is servicable. Since it is only for under power, the furled jib should not cause any noticable obstruction.

I checked my boat yesterday and the bow light installed on my boat is an Aqua-Signal series 25.
