Anchor Hanger or Mast Hanger???

Greetings - surely someone has seen these: I salvaged a bow rail from a daysailer type craft (Macgregor maybe) which had a set of hanging "clips" - one port, one starboard. A small length of chain dangling down with a kind of folding clasp or hook at the ends. If anybody is familiar with these, please fill me in - I plan on using as a mast support while trailering my small trailer sailor, thing is, not sure how the hinged clasp part is best utilized???

Thanks in advance for advice (to a rookie in need)

Hello CurtCarver1,
A picture would be helpful. What I think you are describing is an anchor hanger, but seeing it would be best. We always tied our mast to the bow pulpit and sometimes added a wooden support. Tie it like a spider caught in its own web!

It's an anchor bracket for storing a Danforth type anchor:

Dang. And for years I've been telling the bow bunnies it's where they hang their bikini tops when they take them off :(
