I have noticed that when pulling up the anchor on H36, it occasionally swings as it reaches the roller and hits the bow causing gelcoat chipping. The bow is almost verticle compared to other boats, and I have noticed some chipping on other Hunter in the same area. Has anyone had similar problems? Anyone place a SS plate on the bow to protect it? Yes, I know I have to be a little more careful next time. thanks in advance abe

Bow Sleeve
I recently saw a Jenneau 49 that had a plastic-type "sleeve" mounted on the lentgh of the bow from the roller to near the waterline. I assume it is for protection from the anchor as well as the chain rode.

stainless steel bow guard
I used to spend too much time repairing my bow from those anchor dings. So I had a stainless steel worker make a very simple 1/16" thick strip of stainless that folds over my bow and comes around about two inches to either side of my bow from the deck joint area about halfway down towards the waterline. I screwed it into place with about 6 short self-tapping screws on either side of it. Since I have an old Passage 42, I had to have the center cut out where a stainless pad-eye exists on the bow. The stainless has worked great. The anchor hasn't dinged my bow since I installed it. (I had even more than the usual problem since I cut off most of the protruding bow roller long ago).
