My 9.2A came with 2 anchors, both Danforth style, one is a Fortress, the other a common galvanized steel version. Although it's nice to have 2 anchors, I think if I'm going to carry 2, they should be different styles.
So I'm thinking of either a plow or claw style. Does anyone use either of these and if so, what size is best for the 30' S2?

The Danforth is common in our waters. I have been thinking about a second and would probably buy a 25lb Manson Supreme off ebay, as the price is the best I saw when I last researched it. There is a nice treatise about anchors and a ton of discussions.

My reasoning is to add a plow type anchor, which would be quite different in setting characteristic than the Danforth. The Rocna would be my first choice, but I just can't justify the cost vs. the Manson. The roll bar seems a valuable addition. The biggest downsides to the Manson, from what I have seen, is the shank design makes it tough to fit onto a bow roller. It is also not as pretty as a Rocna.

The CQR is a very popular storm anchor in New England, but it is interesting to see the youtube video by Mainesail. CQR's are also pretty expensive.

I have 2 anchors onboard. Both are the maximum size possible to fit in the locker. I use the plow 95% of the time on this trip to the Carribean. The danforth is handy around Cape Cod. The plow is about 35# and the Danforth is a light duty, but a very large size. Go big. Totally worth it. I have 16' of 3.8" chain on both, with half inch nylon for the remainder. Sometimes I have had to anchor in 30' of water, so you need about 200' of total rode. This is a cheap and easy setup that has worked perfectly for 6 months. I keep 100' of 3/8" chain in the locker for emergencies, although I have never used it. Extra mooring penants, rode floats, a couple shackles, and a trip line are also in the locker along with a heavy set of commercial fishing gloves in orange.

Thanx. And the work gloves in the anchor locker are a great idea! I don't know how many times I've pulled up a mooring line - especially a guest mooring - only to find that its encrusted with barnacles and slime.
