Our boat came with a plow anchor (not sure of the weight-but it doesn't look heavy enough). However upon cleaning out the locker my first time-getting everything out was exhausting. The weight of the coil of chain was such that I had to lay it on the deck, and then coil up as much again. Then the length of line was just as long-well okay probably longer-but huge. I presume this was for docking off a coast of France, but ten to fifteen feet is realy all that I use-literally as a lunch hook. So what's the problem? The rode is fixed to the anchor line (no shackles), and the other end of course is attached to an eye inside the locker-looking very much stronger than my bow cleats. Do I just get a much shorter rode and line, (and second anchor), and hope to cram them all in-it is large, but I hoped to store extra lines there. In the meantime, just drop it, play out the approiate length of chain, tie a line through a shackle on the chain to the bow cleat? (I'm talking well over 200' of chain here!)
