anchor chain storage to small,chain is piling up

i have a moody 38 built 1993, problem is that the 8 mm anchor chain approx 50 meters is piling up and blocking the anchor winsch. i have instaled alraedy a new chain which is more flexable but result is not satisfactory, does any owner solved this problem?

I have a moody 38 Eclipse and iam having the same problemI try everything and the only way that works is having someone under the deck to place the chain in a way that is as flat as possible and i try to to make it hilly, Thats the only solution i have got so far, In case you can come up with somethinf alse i love to hear it.

I once heard of someone that ran a pvc pipe from the deck to below the

Vee berth. It put the weight of the chain lower and nearer the center of the boat.

That's a problem I don't have.

I've got 300' of chain in the lockers and still have room.

Won't a hundred and sixty feet of 5/16 chain fit into a

five gallon bucket? I put 300 feet of 5/8 nylon and 30 feet of 3/8 chain into my locker with room to spare.
