Anchor Buddy

I like it! There are a lot of places to go ashore where there are waves onshore. They can beat up your beach-able watercraft unless you drag it all the way up the beach or anchor it out.
In addition if its a sailing craft, releasing the shore anchor would put you in deep enough water to put the rudder and centerboard down and allow you to hoist the sail while maintaining the bow into the wind. Anyone who has ever launched a boat off the beach with an onshore wind knows how much easier this would be if it works as advertised.
I'll be checking it out.

I think that's neat. I've actually rigged up an anchor to do this years ago and tried it a couple of times. It involved using a single sheave block with a 150' of line hooked to the anchor and the stern of the boat though. This Anchor Buddy is a whole lot simpler. I like it.

bungy wrapped anchor line? like a harness line?

I'd like to see it against a onshore breeze, and waves

For an onshore breeze you're better off using a Bruce or plow anchor. I'm not sure about using a Helix anchor but if there's a tree to tie on to on the edge of the shore, the boat shouldn't go anywhere with this type of breeze.

This Anchor Buddy is similar to that "Pocket Hose" that they advertise on TV which inflates out to a long hose when the water is turned on and shrinks back down when the water is turned off. They claim the hose is good for 5000 LBS.

right. good for a dink on a lake with no current and light breeze. its a neat trick. not sure if its for me.

It's a neat concept for sure but I wonder how that would handle 10 foot tides? Or currents and wind? I think I'll buy 20 feet of bungee and try it out nest year.
