An idea for Cabin Lights...

Well I built my own courticy lights to replace the 5 amp ones. Got all the parts from Digikey.com. Designed it so that at 14.4 volts they where operating at max allowable current. Even incorperated white and red switch. Cost was around $15 and the amp draw went down to 0.75 amps. Angled the forward lamps to shine on the salon table (all white) so we can play cards on the hook without draining the batts much.
At $15 I'm thiking it is cheaper toreplace parts than get "marine grade" ones.

Wally World has small silver & black LED camp lanterns for $5. Switchable 3, 6 white or a blinking red LEDs. Has a hanger wire at the top and uses 4 AA's. I've had three on the boat with the same batteries for over two years.

Top cap piece screw's off and it becomes a very good flashlight. I drilled holes in the base of one to take the hanger wire to hang it upside down over my dinette table. Works great as an area light.

That seems to be the way I'm leaning. Good to hear it has worked out. I'll check out Wally ;)
