Speaking of books for your wish list on Amazon . . . "Island of the Lost, Shipwrecked at the Edge of the World" by Joan Druett. This is a true story of the wreck of two ships in the Southern Ocean south of New Zealand in, I think, about 1870. A remarkable story, part "Swiss Family Robinson" and part "Lord of the Flies".

And though it has absolutely nothing to do with Vegas, " A Sense of the World" by Jason Roberts is also a true story about the first person to ever circumnavigate the earth, not as an explorer or part of a military campaign, but simply as a tourist. Yes, there was a First Tourist, and to make it a bit more interesting he didn't start traveling, alone, until he had gone completely blind (he did pick up a companion for a short while, who was totally deaf).

Any suggestions for my wish list?

I just finished "Endurance" the story of Sir Ernest Shackleton's Antarctic expedition by Alfred Lansing. Made me feel like a wimp.

"The Forty Fathom Bank", of course. Galloway.

Be warned: it will haunt you.
And when he finds that the sum of his transgressions is great he will many a time like a child start up in his sleep for fear, and he is filled with dark forebodings.
