I am looking for a new Stereo radio for my boat. My criteria are: Aux jack in front panel for my iPod. Good AM reception. Ease of use especially the fade function (Since we adjust that a lot going from cockpit to cabin and back frequently), remote available, Satellite ready, and lastly good sound. Easy to operate is the reason I'm replacing the SONY unit I have. After two years I really don't know how to use it. I keep pressing buttons until I accidently get the result I'm looking for. Oh yeah, it should be black and fit into out existing cutout. Any suggestions?

Check you local Best Buy, Circuit City, etc. They'll have everything you could want and at the best prices too.

Screw those cheap get it yourself warehouses

Go to a stereo shop in town and they'll have the best for the money. From what I have seen (or heard) it's the speakers that make the differance. I just bought a set of Kickers. Almost a rubber like material, for the cockpit. WOW are they great. I'd spend my money on quality speakers and not the tuner. Try that first, if that don't get it for ya, move into a differant reciever. But, then again, there are people out there that know more about it than me. Just a thought. More money for the speakers than tuner. Keep it up, Ctskip

Reconsider...

Please reconsider the placement of the AUX input jack! Trust me the last thing you want on a boat is a plug sticking out the front of your stereo. All it takes is one swell or wave or puff of wind while your adjusting the volume et. al and snap there goes the AUX jack and the face plate of your new stereo. I give this advice from personal experience.... Trust me you want a rear jack with a cable coming out into the cabin for the iPod, or what have you, not one sticking out the front of the stereo.. If you insist on having a front jack please at least use a right angle AUX cable meaning it turns 90 degrees at the connector so it only sticks out about 1/4 of an inch as opposed to 1 inch+...

Read the instructions.

I have done my share of pushing buttons and finding my way through luck but in the long run is much easier if you read the instructions. My fm/am/cd/aux radio is connected to the cabin lights which get shut off when the boat is not in use so I have to reset the radio parameters when it gets powered up. From time to time I may have to set the FADE to switch sound to cabin or cockpit only but it is not that hard. The auxiliary jack is invaluable as we plug in an XM radio giving us clear digital sound and a variety of programing in costal waters.

IPod input

I connected an IPod connecter to the aux input on the back of my stereo. Run the wire to a convenient place on the front panel. On mine the MP3 player did not have enough boost for the aux input so I put a boosteroo in line. It works great. http://www.boostaroo.com/
