Alternator Problems

I finally got my 85 Catalina 27 back in the water only to find the alternator for my model 18 Universal isn't working. The alternator is a Motorola Model 8GR 2009A.Now I'm looking for rebuild parts: brushes, regulator and diodes. Any suggestions on where to find them or a recommendation for a replacement alternator?John

Any auto starter/generator repair shop....

should be able to rebuild it for you. Did the tach quit also? It is driven by the alternator. Have you replaced the famous 8 pin plug on the instrument panel and at the engine? These plugs account for 75% all electrical problems. I finally got around to changing mine last year. They looked good, but when I tried to take them apart, they fell to pieces in my hands. All the pins were corroded.
