Alternator Belt

I had to remove the manifold because the studs where not long enough. The water injection pipe is on the vertical piece. You just can't see it in the photo. After doing a little research maybe what I have is original equipment. The inch and a quarter exhaust pipe seems rather crude, something you would put together with black iron pipe from a hardware store.

The original exhaust on my boat was pipe but with the water injection on the horizontal pipe. It is not part of the engine, they are all customized for the boat installation. Pipe is cheap, readily available and easy to replace. You could have a weld shop make up a one piece unit if you really want that or maybe a muffler shop would bend one to fit but installation would be a problem with that approach.

Got my new alternator bracket installed. It went pretty well and the pulley seems to line up better.

Boomvang, why did you pull the manifold off the engine?

Your exhaust looks like what I just installed on my motor, schedule 80 pipe and fittings, but I don't see your water injection? My water injection is in the vertical pipe going down to the vetus water lock muffler.

I was able to leave the manifold on for the alternator bracket installation and the old studs were long enough that I didn't have to put new studs in the cylinder head. I was worried about breaking them trying to replace them. Now that yours is off you can mask it and paint it up to look like new! Good luck with your service bulletin upgrade.
The water injection pipe is hidden in the picture behind the other vertical pipe. I had that piece remade. I removed the manifold because the studs were too short and I did, in fact, sand blast the manifold and repaint it. See picture. I will have to move my water hose coming from the pump so I will not have to disconnect that line to replace the belt. That's the way it was routed when I got the boat, but I see the line is routed differently on other boats.
