Here's my add for it in 2020 ... I'd recommend her for you unless you are looking for much later models. I can give tell you everything about her that you would need to know. She's not in perfect shape, but she never let me down in 16 seasons of sailing her and making improvements. She handles some tough conditions like a dream and she is a good performer. The boat is a single-handers dream.

Hmm, i can see i made a mistake in refering to those "other boats" as dogs, no disrespect intend as they do have other redeeming qualities.

Hunter 27 draft is 4.25 ft missed my filter by 3 inches ...might be a possibility
Apology accepted. BTW my H27 is the 3.5' shoal draft version. I do think the 4.25' keel would point better, but as someone famously said: " Every boat is a compromise".

Our shoal draft ‘77 Hunter 27 draws 3 1/2 feet. It’s definitely not a dog until I try to come closer to 60 degrees to the wind. So it is a cruiser, not a racer. But it‘s fast on a reach or a run. We routinely sail pasT 30 to 35 footers cruising in the Lake Erie Islands. We average 5 to 5.5 knots sailing or motor sailing as we cruise. The interior has 6 feet of headroom, and it will actually sleep 5. We have cruised for a week with four of us a number of times.

One of the nicest features of the Starwind is it's relatively wide beam. I was just on a Catalina 27 yesterday (1970's or early 80's model, I believe) and I couldn't believe how narrow the boat is. Down below it is wide enough but the side decks are so narrow it is even difficult to pass by the shrouds. The Starwind has a very comfortable cabin and the side decks are no compromise, either. Probably twice as wide side decks as the Catalina I was on. The wide beam and shallow draft make her feel a little tender when first heeling over, but at 15 degrees she stiffens up very nicely and is very dry (as long as beating into the wind doesn't generate waves splashing over the bow). One feature that she could have used for comfort would be a dodger.
