Alternative bottom paint

In the process of bringing a 1969 17 ft wooden boat back to original Will be trailered .whats on it now is not bottom paint,some type of copper colored paint.I know about bottom paint as I,ve had 6 boats I,ve done .Anyone know of alternatives.Okay It,s a 17 ft 69 Carver runabout my best friends Grandad willed it to me so its special.With all the help I got on this site someone will know.

If it's a trailer boat, and only used little, I would be inclined to put nothing on it. Use it and sprayed off at a car wash, and let the beautiful hull lie untouched on its trailer. If that sounded sarcastic it wasn't meant to be. (I too own granddads powerboat on a trailer).

Yeah, dry sailed boats don't need expensive bottom paint. Don't use polyurethane. Any oil based enamel will do.
