I set up snap on jib all looks good. When running foot of mainsail forward to aft along slot I am not sure if a part is missing at aft end of boom for outhaul? Also running main sail up mast the bottom 6 inches is not in the track What did I do wrong? Lastly there is an eye loop forward on bottom of boom. What lines goes through that?

It will work better if there is a block at the end of the boom. Also the line size looks pretty big. On a 15' boat ¼" or 5/16" will work.

It is a little difficult to tell what if anything is wrong with the main. The luff needs to come out of the track to attach to the boom, so probably nothing is wrong with the way it is.

Lastly there is an eye loop forward on bottom of boom. What lines goes through that?
Looking at the angle of the bail, it is probably for a vang. But I don't see any place to attach the vang at the mast.

The diagonal bail on the boom is for your boom vang, but you have no eye at the mast base to attach it to. Based on the rigging on my Mariner 19 with a similar boom, you will want an eye that it is attached to a slug and clamp that fits in the mast track. Very much like the cleat below the gooseneck, but with an eye instead of a cleat.

The cleat should have a pair of screws to loosen the clamp that holds it in the mast track, which will allow you to slide the cleat along the mast track. Or remove it where the track "gate" is (where your mainsail luff comes out of the track). You will want the eye for the boom vang right at the base of the mast - the lower the eye, the more effective the vang is. So remove the cleat, put the eye in, then reinstall the cleat for your gooseneck downhaul (serves same purpose as cunningham).

hope this helps

I wonder if I should move the height of the boom up. You will notice in the last picture the mast has a mark where it appears the boom may have originally been located. It is strange because the sails are the original sails. If I move the boom up I would have more head room but then I may not be able to deploy the full main sail. Any thoughts? Also I want to had a few more horn cleats to port and start board side to the gunwale. Should I use a backer plate on bottom side for added support?

Usually the mark on the mast is the lowest point the boom is allowed to go for racing under class rules. On most boats, the boom sits above the mast gate when sailing (mine does). Is your main actually hoisted all the way up? Or is it really stretched?

The more closely I look at your photos, the more I suspect either boom or sails are not original to the boat, and were substituted in. The gooseneck puts the tack of the sail an inch or 2 away from the mast, your sail should have been made to accommodate that distance. I have the same gooseneck, but my mainsail has slugs and the tack ring is set back from the bottom mast slug. If the mainsail is fully hoisted, then the luff is long, tack ring is in wrong place, and the sail was not original to the boat.

I've been known to be wrong, but I agree with you, something is not right in the photos.
