I have a 303 and need to know how long the shaft log extends into the inside of the boat. I think my PSS shaft seal is pushed too far onto the tube. This prevents me from compressing the bellows. Any pictures would be great.

The bellows look pretty compressed to me. Is it leaking?
Did you install it? How old is the PSS? It is supposed to be replaced every so often (I can’t remember if it is 5, 7, or maybe 10 years). Yours looks a bit worn.

Is the boat in the water?

Is there a disconnect between the current specifications in the PSS manual and what is showing on your image.
What is the diameter of your shaft and shaft log?

From the PSS manual:
What should the compression be for my PSS Shaft Seal?
Answer: The chart below lists the overall compressed length of the PSS Type A and Type B Shaft Seals. For PSS PRO Shaft Seal compressed lengths visit the PSS PRO Seal page.

Overall compressed length of PSS Shaft Seal

My shaft is 1 inch and my stern tube is 1-7/8 inch. The chart I have, for the seal, says the compressed length should be 6.21 inches. I compress the bellows to 6.5 inches them it stops like it is hitting something. So, I was thinking that the previous owner may have pushed the bellows too far onto the shaft log. That would limit the movement of the bellows. That is why I wanted a picture of another 303 to see what their install looked like.

Makes sense. Or you could dive in and remove then adjust your own. If in the water, be prepared for water intrusion.

Update on PSS shaft seal . I hauled the boat and pulled the bellows from the shaft tube and the bellows was installed too far onto the shaft tube. Problem solved

the bellows was installed too far onto the shaft tube.
Trying to understand the mechanical issue.
In this state, the bellows could not be compressed?
Thus leaving your seal without adequate compression pressure causing the leak?
