Hello, Fellow Hunter Captains! I have just purchased my first daysailer/weekender. A beautiful 23' 1985 Hunter named the "Nautical Rose". I am looking for the opinions and advise of those who are wiser than I. What should I look out for? Is there anything specific to this model that I should be aware of? What can I do the further enhance my "sailing experience"? All Opinions Welcome! Thanks, and I am proud to be a member of your fraternity. Sincerely, Chip Langan chiplin21@aol.com

Welcome Chip!

You might start with the boat reviews (found under Boat Info tab on the home page). There's a lot of good info on the boat there. Enjoy! ph.

Re: Hunter 23

Chip, I am sure you will enjoy your boat. I have a 1986 H23 and have had very little problems with mine. You will first find out that there are several different rigs on these boats. Mine is a "Kenyon" Mast/Boom. I think its slightly heavier than the others. I race my 23 every other weekend and have made several upgrades to help with sail changes and speed. You can email me to talk about what you have on your boat and maybe what you should look at replacing. I did find most hardware in great shape but replaced most lines. Check out the bottom for blisters, and rust on the keel. Not a big deal, but needs to be put on your work list. I keep my boat in the water year round and have never had any blister problems, but I do have a little rust on the keel. Email to: wsdavis@fmtc.net if you want to chat. Also look in the archives as there is tons on this boat. Cliff is the residing expert/racer of this boat and helped me tons!! Have fun!! Scott H23 "No Alibi"
