Fellow Alden owners, I my Alden Zephyr yawl is for sale, and appears on the Yachtworld website. i forgot to add rebuilt chainplates to the new deisel engine and other upgrades. To be sure, Challengers are fabulous boats. The Zephyr has much the same profile, but both an easy-care fiberglass cabin and cockpit. So it doesn't have all the wood to fiberglass joints of a Challenger. We have loved owning and sailing her. Hope she can stay in the Forum family. her sister ship Orca was on the cover of "Good Old Boat" and Foolish Things was selected by Neils as one of the poster girls on the Alden Design Website.

Our boats have a strong following. My broker says the listing is one of his top 3 in terms of hits, and there have been several inquires in just a few days. I hope it follows the Challenger pattern, where Challengers in very good condition sell in relatively short order. If anyone would like to learn more about Foolish Things please send me an eMail.

If any Challenger owners have been approached with invitations to sell their boats, and felt it wasn't the time, I would welcome referals to
Foolish Things.

Hi Stevens, I was telling a friend about your listing and I see it is off Yachtworld.com. Have you sold the boat?

Tom thanks for getting the word out. Foolish Things sold in about 3 weeks. There were many inquiries. The boat had some damage from hurricain Sandy. Most of the buyers were very interested at the asking price, provided that we repaired the damage. We choose to work with one of the buyers who was willing to repair the damage at his expense, but wanted a commensurate discount in price, and was able to close quickly. He also really appreciated the early Aldens, so Foolish Things has a good new home.

Together with an insurance settlement , things worked out ok financially. I already miss the boat, but have to save for college for my daughter. Foolish Things was trucked to Kittery Point ME, and will be sailing beginning 6/15. Aren't you up in Maine?

Maybe your friend would like the Mistral.
