Alden Barbour Refrig. Compressor Unit

Neither the surveyor nor I noticed on our '87 Hunter prepurchase survey that the condensation pan on the refrigr. compressor unit which is located in stbd. lazerette was completely rusted though thus allowing the whole unit to move. (It was being held in place only by the freon lines.) I've disconnected the freon lines, cut the elec. power wires and have the components sitting on my workbench at home. As the unit manufacturer, Adler Barbour, no longer seems to be in business I'm considering replacing the condensation pan with a "cafeteria" tray and refastening the unit back in place. No they are definitely in business. Adler Barbour is the most popular unit sold today. In fact, they host the marine refrigeration forum on this website.

I have emailed and talked to Bill at AB many times (and he handled a VERY frustrating experience well.)Somehow they are now part of Waeco, but darned if I can find the web site right now. If you email Phil here at the HOW I'm sure he can hook you up with them.

What I did with mine.....

I too have a '87 H31. The bottom of my Cold Machine was very rusted also. The rep told me that they do not make a replacement for the mount & suggested that I make one out of marine plywood. I took another look at what was left, put some anti-rust goop on it and reattached it to the plywook it was mounted to. I was concerned that if I removed it and unattached the hoses they would not seal again. This is an amazing unit that continues to work well. In reality this is at least 10 years old & probably due for a replacement. Good luck with your fix....
