My 1985 30' Catalina sloop has a pressurized alcohol stove that does not work. Is there a manual for diagnosing problems of the stove and for providing directions for fixing the problems? Thanks, E

EASY FIX

Junk the whole stove and get an Origo. No more flareups, no curtains on fire, and very easy to maintain. Just fill the canister and light. You'll love it. Sean

Origo

Sean is right about the pressure alcohol stove. I had one and removed the burners and cleaned them (sand blasted and wirebrushed the inside of the tubes). Looked great. The PO had installed new hose from the tank to the stove, so I was good there. I pumped up the tank and found a pinhole leak. By this time I'm frustrated, the stove is ugly, and nothing good is ever said about them, so it now lives in my garage. Got a two burner Origo mounted on a shelf where the stove was and it works great. Lots of extra storage under the new stove/shelf. No problems with any cooking chore at all (I'm kinda limited to a frying pan and coffee, but the Admiral can whip up a complete meal in no time).
