Albin Vega berth length

I am considering buying an Albin Vega or similar type of boat. One of my criteria is that the berths in the boat I do buy will be long enough to comfortably accommodate me - at least 6'7"!

So my question is: what are the standard lengths of the berths in an Albin Vega (assuming there is a standard length). And, if this is less than 6'7" could modifications be made to make them at least 6'7"?

Many thanks, Matthew

I don't know offhand how long the berths are. I'm guessing around 6'. There may be more length in the v-berth, if you fill in the center between 2 sides with a panel (I've made a panel I can drop in there when needed). Others here have made a panel to fit between the to salon berths to make it on big bed. If you did that, you could sleep in the center or sleep diagonally and have enough room. Otherwise, you could probably cut a foot hole into the panel and let your feet project under the sink or stove. I wouldn't cut the main bulkhead, as it seems to need all the strength it can get.
If you search in the files section, you can probably find the berth lengths. -Tim

On Minke, #2505, my measurements are starboard bunk 77½”, port bunk 72”,
both 25½” wide. My measurements for battery space in the keel were flaky so
I hope someone will validate this. In case you aren\'t aware, there are
three generations of Vegas and Minke is part of the second generation. The
others might be different.

Okay thanks Alan and Tim. Looks like I should take a look at an Albin Vega. 77 1/2" may just be enough. For a smaller berth I can look at cutting a hole in the rear panel.

At 77-1/2", you are only 1-1/2" too long to full stretch out.

It is common for people to shrink in height as they age. If you keep you Vega long enough, you may "grow into it", or I guess that would really be "shrink to fit".

In the spirit of electrical heat-shrink tubing consider a furnace and you
can be the inventor of heat-shrink humans.

I get carried away so easily.....
