Hello group,
I just found this site a few days ago and have enjoyed lurking
through the messages. I have been considering the purchase of a Vega
but have the disadvantage of having never set foot on one. Would you
be so kind as to advise me of this notion. My wife and I currently
sail a Catalina 27 in Puget Sound, but would like to get something
suitable for an extended cruise to Alaska. Your thoughts would be
greatly appreciated. Thanks, Dave.

Aloha e' komo mai Dave, Welcome!

Why don't you try to make it to the Rendezvous? There will likely be a dozen or so Vegas there (If last year's event is any indication) and you could check out the many modifications and upgrades, get some ideas and tips and meet several West Coast VEGAtarians. Bring your Catalina for direct comparison and join the fun!

Good Idea... I got the August 2,3 and 4 maked on the calendar. Hope
to see you there. In the mean time can you give me some idea how the
Vega sails in comparison to the Catalina we have. Thanks again, Dave.

-Thanks, that is a great site for making comparisons. I think the
Albin Vega looks really good according to their data. But in
general, do they have strong hulls, sufficient head room, good
windward performance, ease of handling and good motion? I havn't
seen to many for sale in the Pacific Northwest and would really like
to see one. Might have to wait for the rendevous. Do I need to make
any reservations for the event? Thanks again, Dave.
