I am a first time boat owner/live-aboard/college student trying to keep an Albin Gas Engine going until I can re-power in a year or two. I need advice on re-mounting the motor. The motor mount is stripped-the whole inboard motor slides about an inch and a half forward when I put it in gear. I also need a reliable parts resource in the US. The motor is swedish built and I have had challenges getting people to work on it and order parts. Currently it runs fairly well but it tends to over-heat. Can anyone help me?

Some ideas, but need more info.

Sounds like an ugly situation. Do you know if the stringers that the engine is mounted to our in sound condition? If so, I don't think this is too hard to correct. I'm assuming the stringers are wood. If so, you can fill the previous hole(s) with thickened epoxy and lag bolt the engine in place. This should carry you through for a while. If the problem is more extensive than that, you might search the internet for a used outboard, that could tide you over until you are ready to do an inboard repower. This would probably be inexpensive and not to hard to do. Good luck.
