Hello fellow VegabondsAs the title suggests, I have an Albin 0-21K gas engine along with all the rest of the parts (from fuel pump to water separator), in addition to a complete Combi system from control lever to prop. The engine is seized and located in Long Beach, CaliforniaThe previous owner said he was cruising along when it shutdown and wouldn't restart. I don't know if it seized at that time, or if it seized from age. Rather than dealing with a rebuild, he threw on an outboard and called it a day. For now, I'm content using the outboard. This event most likely occurred in 2005 or later (as that is the build year of the Yamaha currently hanging off the back). In a seat-back storage compartment I found some used head gaskets, so my assumption is that it must have been rebuilt at some point. Everyone seems to cite the number of hours on their particular engine, but I see no gauge on-board keeping track of this. The engine is out of Albin Vega #385, built in 1969. The info as it is handwritten in my Vega handbook:Type 0-21KSer. 4/3#51215I also have a NOS Made in Germany Bosch coil (0 221 123 007) still in OG packagingNeed parts? Need the whole thing? Get in contact with me directly via e-mail at wisdomracing@... (as not to subject others on this list to our exchange). Since this puppy is seized anyway I'll probably begin dismantling it in pieces to simplify removal from the vessel. That is, unless someone wants it whole and gets in contact quick.Regards,Jacob

Jacob,Your email address didn't get posted. Use "at" instead of @ and it should be left intact. I have no need for the engine or parts. I pulled mine out also and will be running an outboard. I bought a cheepo chain hoist from harbor freight and was able to lift the engine out as one piece by myself. It should be easy to remove. The hardest part is disconnecting the shaft because you have to take the combi apart to do that. Because I wasn't going to use it, I just cut the shaft. Are you still in the Long Beach area? I'm in Riverside and am about to move my boat back in the water at Shoreline. If you need help or want to shoot the breeze about Vegas, shoot me an email. Larry,I used Interlux Perfection, a 2 part LP. It only comes in a glossy finish, which is fine for the hull, but would cause too much glare on deck. Interlux makes a 2 part flattening agent, made for their LP paints and I used it create more of a matte finish. It really cuts the glare. By varying the amount you can create a semi-gloss to a matte finish. Let me know if you need more detail.Rics/v Blue Max#2692www.ric-maxfield.net

In the "Old Days"....(actually I still do on occasion)..we used talcum
powder to take the gloss outta the gloss.
