Hi, My friend is a marine biologist who sails on the NOAA Albatross IV. He said that a new line of ships is being built......but there will be no Albatross V as there is some superstition that this name will bring bad luck. (I don't think it derives from "The Rime of the Ancient Mariner") They have had many other Albatross vessels. It seems to be something about the number 5. I have not been able to find any info on the web about this. Does anyone have any ideas. Thanks so much! Carolyn astralmama@aol.com p.s. NOAA is apparently going to start naming the new ships after "dead presidents"!!!!! Hope they don't start with Nixon..........

Boat U.S. Magazine for March 2005 has a brief article regarding a new NOAA fisheries survey vessel named "Oscar Dyson", the first in a line up of four vessels. The second vessel will be named "Henry B. Bigelow", currently under construction in a Mississippi shipyard. Steve Kamp
