Alarm Tone Decibel Booster?

I have a REAL problem in hearing the high frequency alarm tones of the Raymarine depth sounder even when there is no wind, motor, conversation, etc... Is there some way that I could supplement those tiny little tones with the horn of the Queen Mary?? Given that it took two boats last weekend to wrest me free of the sand bar in the St. Johns River and cause me to drop out of the Mug Race, I am most interested in a fix here. Thanks.

One way....

...is to add the Raymarine ST60 Multi Instrument (a repeater) which has an auxilary alarm option. It will only work if the NMEA output port is not being used. You might want to check the specs on other models at their web site below. I hope this helps. Let us know what your solution is. Monty

Looking forward to the answers

Several years ago, I purchased a Garmin 125, gps/sounder combo. Much of the basis for the choice was that it had provision for an external alarm. A radio shack alarm was chosen that can't be missed and has been greatly appreciated over the years. There is no way I could sleep through an anchor alarm or miss a warning of skinny water or an approached waypoint. I agree that such an alarm is fundamentally important.

Hhmmm

I am very deaf and hear none of the pisqueak alarms on the boat. Wife, however, can hear a pin drop at a 100 yards and all those pisqueak alarms drive her absolutely nuts. I would be delighted to have some sort of central alarm into which I could hook everything that's supposed to alarm along with a flashing light to tell me which one and that was so loud I would jump to remedy the problem. Hmmm. I will have to think about that. An annunciator board perhaps. A market?

Tone deaf too

and could not hear the depth alarm so had a buzzer connected via a sea talk junction box. Raymarine can sell you the box and advise on connecting it to your system. Worked for me.

Pizeo

Arlyn put you on the right track. Radio Shack sells what they call a Pizeo buzzer for about 3 or 4 bucks, they come in different sizes. I hooked one up to my depth sounder a couple of years ago. When that puppy goes off, it will shake the fillings out of your teeth. No way to miss it.
