All, I have a 1984 Cat 27 with a Universal 18. On the engine instrument panel there are 2 indicator lights ( one labeled oil and the other alarm ) I believe the oil light is for low oil pressure but I am not sure what "alarm" is all about. ( temperature?, water flow ? ) I have become curious because the alarm light now occasionally flickers on and off at idle speed with the transmission in gear. ( engine hot after running for 15 minutes ) Any insights on what "alarm" is measuring would be much appreciated ..... Joe

On my 270, the alarm

currently does not work, but according to my manual, in addition to idiot lights, an alarm sounds if the oil pressure is low or if the water temperature too high. One is a steady noise and the other a beeping alarm but I can't recall which is which. For now I am regularly watching my gauges and checking my oil.
