Alan or Anyone who can weigh in, I am in the process of replacing some of the lines on my 35.5. The spec in the book calls for 7/16" for the main sheet and the jib sheets. This seems a little small as I am sure the are 1/2" or better at the present time. When replacing do you go with the Hunter spec or do you upsize or downsize. The larger lines seem a little easier to grip however I know they create more friction. You comments greatly appreciated. Thanks Don

Don't need any additional size.

Don: You really don't need any additional size. The line is much stronger than any forces you will receive on these components. If you go with some of the modern lines you can even size it smaller. Check out the mfg. specs on these lines too. The new stuff is lighter & stronger than what was avaiable when your boat was mfg. Oversize lines going through sheaves can be a real problem.

Bigger lines stretch less

if they are the same kind of line, of course. While you are at it, you might want to make sure the topping lift is not crossed over the main halyard. Mine was crossed and I did not realize it until recently. It was something else which was probably done wrong when commissioned as new. Another source of friction eliminated.
