I would like to convert to adjustable genoa leads on my 1994 Hunter Legend 35.5. Anyone who has experience in making this conversion please post your thoughts and recommendations. Thanks.

DO IT!!!

I put them on mine when I first bought her. It's a sail control that should be standard equipment on all boats. We use them constantly. Having to go forward and unpin a loaded car, move it and repin is impossible and needlessly too much work. Line adjustable cars make it so easy so you can always get the most out of your genoas.

Do it with Garhauer equipment

Practical sailor rated their equipment the best. Cannot beat the price/service/quality. I put on ball bearing cars with all the purchase/power blocks from Garhauer for about the cost of non-ball bearing harken cars with out the additional cost of blocks. When the cars are easy to adjust you will adjust them and make life easier & faster out on the water. And might I add, fast is fun. I also added their hard vang, and paid a nominal cost for them to fabricate the piece that would fit the underside of my boom. A pleasure to deal with them.

I've got the decadent, expensive Harken system

Installed it in '91. Next to the autopilot it's my most valuable sailing tool. I sent some pictures of the entire system last month to John Richards. If you go to my web site and drop me a line, I'll forward them to you.

genoa cars

I installed Garhauer gear last year. Great, quality stuff at amazing prices. Totally agree with other responses.
