I'd box it up and ship it as baggage. Most airlines have a weight limit per bag, so that should be your limiting factor.

That would be a could idea but checked bag weight limit on Allegiant is 40Lbs and the Honda weight is 46.3Lbs (Dry). Additional charges apply to overweight, oversized, sporting equipment and excess baggage. Your best bet would be to check with them if paying excess baggage cost would be cheaper than freight cost.

A Honda 2000 is not designed to be a piece of luggage and as strong as they are, for what they do, I doubt it would survive baggage handlers. I would package it and send it as cargo. Check with the Airline as I think there are regulations regarding previously used fuel tanks. There seems to be a concern about residual fumes for gas and oil.

As Benny implies, an 'empty" gasoline tank is more dangerous than a full tank.

Please don't put it on a passenger carrier aircraft.

I know sailors that shipped a Honda generator to El Salvador as checked luggage, not sure how big but it was at the weight limit, I recall they had to pay extra because of the weight. I shipped an 8 hp outboard I disassembled in two checked bags to El Salvador.

Make sure you use it a few times, scratch it up good, and let the boys at customs know it is "personal ships equipment", unless you intend otherwise, in which case delivery costs are the least of your concerns...
