Our 1981 37-C has a problem with air getting in the fuel system when the tank is less than half full. The fuel tank is under the berth in the little cabin on the port side, near the engine. Has anybody had this problem?

Not here.

This is the first that I have heard of this Winston. And I've studied all of the H37C postings, I think. My H37C has never had a fuel problem. But I don't motor much so the tank is nearly full all of the time. And the pickup is at the bottom inside corner so you'd have to be heeled pretty good for it to be open to air. Are you sure your tank isn't a lot lower than one-half? Are you going by the gauge or have you pulled it out and measured with a stick? I did this once last summer just to be satisfied that the gauge was accurate. It was.

Hole in the Hose?

It might be sucking a little air through a tiny hole in the pickup line that is inconveniently located at the half-full level inside the tank. OR The pickup line has broken off somewhere above normal.
