I would like to put a heater in my 32 foot sail boat. I'm thinking to put an Espar heater. It burn Diesel fuel 0.02 gallon/hrs. If the heater is set at max heat, it will burn 1 gallon in 20hrs, very efficient. I was wondering if anybody ever put one of those in there boat. I have a choice of a model D2 or D4
I'm a Heavy Duty mechanic and I did put some in truck with sleeping cab and heavy equipment, most operator was pleased with them.

A canal boat we rented in England one time had an Eberspacher heater in it and it was great, especially at dinner time and again first thing in the morning. It was easy to fire up and the intake and exhaust were both outside so there were no smells. We did not run it continuously but in the late spring on grey rainy days (what were we doing there?) it made a big difference to our comfort. I could see it really extending your season.

I would heed the warning on their web site to do a correct marine installation, it may well save headaches later with resell, insurance, inspections etc. Let us know how it goes.

Our 33 has Webasto heater that turns the boat into a sauna even in the coldest conditions. Works well. I'm not sure of what the burn rate is. The bigger issue is that it requires electricity. It originally was wired to the starter battery, and that battery wouldn't last through the night. I've since moved it to the house bank, and hope that issue will be resolved.
