Anyone know if there's any filtration of air on Westerbeke 10/2 engines? There's no air filter per se, just wondering if there's a screen or anything that should be checked/cleaned/replaced.. I have a 1987 O'Day 272 LE...
I've looked before and not found anything..reason I ask is my idle speed has creeped up to about 1100RPM, where it had historically been between 700-800. Truck diesel mechanic friend of mine suggested that I either turn the idle adjustment screw (still factory secured with a wire and seal), or check and see if the intake air is being constricted. If the air is constricted, it may be compensating by injecting more fuel, which would raise the RPM..
Any thoughts?
PS, I tried searching the forums but have never had much luck with results. Even if I limited my advanced search keyword to "Westerbeke", I got no hits...
