Air Filter replacement for Renault RC8D

Anyone out there know of a replacement air filter for the old Renault RC8D? It looks like something that might be similar to a lawnmower or tractor air filter, and I believe it has a 1 5/8 inch attachment collar. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

be my short list, although I dread the thought of having to spend $5-6 K on a $10 K boat (although I love it dearly). Looking at the signature block on your post, I wonder if you can share any insights on affordable new/used engines, such as the yanmar.I did find a potential source for Renault parts at www.renaultcouach.com, although I have not heard back from them yet. Top among my list of woes is that I tried to repair a crack in the front of the block, and am now having trouble getting everything back together EXACTLY the way it came out. learning bit by bit every step of the way, eating away my short sailing season on the hard...very frustrating.Mostly I'm venting at the moment, but if you or anyone out there have suggestions for affordable re-powering, I'm all ears.

I think the web site you mentioned is in the UK. Factor in duties and shipping. Watch Ebay and look for either a Yanmar 1GM (7hp) or 1GM10 (9hp). Both are easy excelent replacements. I've seen them on ebay for as little as 2000.00 used. Beta also makes a Mini 10 that might go in there. I haven't looked at one yet, though.Pat

This is good advice! I was on the web last night and saw a rebuilt GM10 for about $2300, which is much more palatable.For folks looking to buy a used Hunter 27 of this era - keep in mind that the engines on these boats are probably original vintage. Although mine has been working well, this is a critical component of the boat, and one that you should look carefully at. I did not, and my surveyor specifically did not do an in-depth engine assessment. On mine, most of the wires are in need of replacement, and there is a considerable amount of rust at a number of joints that I am concerned about. Not to mention all those little parts that need periodic replacement - impellors, air filters, etc. I LOVE the H27 Cherubini design, and I love my particular boat. However, the engine is giving me some grief, so be sure you consider this carefully when making your decisions. Thx again, Pat!Pete
