Has anyone have an air conditioning unit on their Vision 32 that can comment on where it is located? I'm looking to add a unit, but am uncertain as to the best place to put it. I'm leaning towards one of the aft compartments, but would appreciate any other insight. Also, what types of units do people have? I'm looking seriously at the Mermaid units; something like the 12,000 BTU model. Any experience here? thanks, matt

Also Mermaid 12K.

JKK does not state where he put his Mermaid. I cannot help much because I have an H37C. I can tell you that a standard cardboard shipping box with one inch off the top makes a perfect template. I installed mine in a cabinet in the quarterberth with the outlet blowing out under the nav station. This eliminated the need for any duct work. I use a fan to circulate air back into the q-berth where the thermostat is located. It takes about thirty minutes to drop the temp from 90 to 80 degrees if I first close the v-berth. About 45 minutes for the whole boat. This was my fourth summer and no issues so far. It is noisy and I asked Mermaid about installing a rheostat to lower the fan speed. First it would invalidate the warranty. Second is the air flow over the coils issue. He said it could ice up with reduced air flow. I T'd off the engine seacock so I only had to drill one hole, right through the bootstripe for the outlet. I use their condensator that sucks the water out of the drain pan so nothing goes into the bilge or sump. And the 12K unit can be run off of my Honda 2000W generator.
